Experience one of the most beautiful waterfront courses on the east coast. Unique “space” themed aid stations along a partially shaded mostly flat course. A USATF certified course and a great Boston qualifier.
The full marathon and the north half marathon course run along Indian River Drive until the turnaround and head back towards Cocoa Village. The marathon course will then continue south along the river and to join the south half marathon course for the 2nd half of the marathon course. The half marathoners head south on Rockledge Drive to the turnaround and will finish back at Lee Wenner/Cocoa Riverfront Park.
All 3 courses are USAT certified courses. (North Half: FL18058TY, South Half: FL18059TY, Full: FL18060TY)
New safety protocols and practices based on local health guidelines and industry best practices will be in place on race day. Thank you for your patience as we work through this process.
CAN’T DECIDE ON WHICH HALF MARATHON TO DO?
Having trouble deciding on whether to choose the north or south half marathon course at this year’s Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon weekend?
In our opinion, you can’t go wrong with either option. Both courses have a great tree-lined view of the river and beautiful homes along both routes.
The north course has a few more rolling hills (for Florida) than the south course. The other cool thing about the north course is you get a great view of the NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building just before the turnaround from across the river. If you have participated in the original Big Bang Series by completing the half marathon, you may want to change it up and choose the north course for a change of scenery. The north half marathon course has a cutoff time of 4 and 1/2 hours. Also, the north half marathon course is the designated Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year Series race for points.
The south course has several historic buildings along the route and the other great thing about the south course is there is no time limit (except the full marathon time of 7 hours). This is the course to choose for a more leisurely pace.
Course officially closes at 1:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. (7-hour time limit).
